Colouring has never been this trendy. It made a huge come back in the form of colouring pages for adults. Every time I see gorgeous colouring pages on Pinterest or in a book store, I am immediately drawn to them. Like most of us, we grew up colouring everywhere, from covering the street with chalk to drawing with permanent markers on walls. Today is no different- my children are doing everything I was doing and much more. As I was creating these fun colouring pages for kids and adults with Illustrator, my 6 year old wanted to learn everything about it a few minutes before bedtime. I can guarantee you that she will know the in’s and out of Illustrator in no time. Before I know it, she will be drawing for my blog and I will have to add her to my payroll. Haha! That’s just what kids do.
There are many studies that prove that art therapy is effective in reducing stress and colouring offers some similar benefits. Colouring without having to stress about a blank page is wonderful. You can allow yourself to colour mindfully without even worrying about which colours to choose. You can let your imagination guide you and open your mind to different realities. Colour trees in red and suns in blue. There are simply no limits.
The new trend began in 2011 when Scottish illustrator Johanna Basford, a Scottish illustrator, was approached by the publishing house Lawrence King Publishing. They have seen her work online and thought that her drawings would make a great coloring book. The colouring book “Secret Garden,” a complex hand-drawn coloring book came to life.
Even though these colouring pages are for adults and older kids, anyone can enjoy them. Download them now and print as many as you want. Please take pictures of your colouring pages and come back to showcase your work for me. I would love to share them with the world.
Happy colouring! Come back often for more colouring pages for adults and kids.
